Hey readers, welcome back to another progress update of our project! This week we will be talking about the changes and the improvements that is going to be implemented in our next robot.
Improvements and Changes: Week 2
Last week, we presented our robot to the Directors and Lecturers. Based on their feedback and suggestions, we came out with some changes and improvement for our robot.
Improvement and Changes:
Implement a charging dock.
Add a fridge on our robot to keep the drinks cool.

These changes are not small for us. Our current robot's base is very small and compact because it was not designed to have a charging dock and fridge in it. If we were to add a fridge onto our current robot, the center of gravity of our robot will be too high, making it unstable. Furthermore, due to space constraint, we do not have anymore spaces to add a charging dock to our robot. All these led us to one decision, which is to rebuild the base of our robot.
After days of thinking and designing, we finally came out with a new design. As soon as we agree on the new design of our new robot, we fabricated a new base plate using the Water Jet Cutter.

The main changes is that the base is wider and we changed the material from Aluminium polyurethane composite to a pure aluminium, allowing the base to withstand a heavy load. We are also able to add a charging dock between the wheels now and is more stable even if we were to add a fridge.

Even though it feels very reluctant and painful for us to dismantle and redesign a new robot, but we understand that changes are necessary. The comments and suggestions are honest opinion of our robot and only by listening to them, our robot can improve and be one step closer to perfection.
Thank you for your time and see you next week. :)
